The Adverse Childhood Experiences, or "ACEs," quiz asks a series of ten questions (run into below) nigh common traumatic experiences that occur in early on life. Since higher numbers of ACEs often correlate to challenges subsequently in life, including higher risk of certain health problems, the quiz is intended every bit an indicator of how likely a person might be to face these challenges.

The ACEs quiz gives no insight into whether an individual child might be more or less sensitive to arduousness and asks no questions nigh whether there may have been any protective relationships in place to assistance buffer the child from stress. Before your 18th birthday:

Often or very frequently pushed, grabbed, slapped, or had something thrown at her? or Sometimes, often, or very often kicked, bitten, hit with a fist, or striking with something difficult? or Always repeatedly striking over at to the lowest degree a few minutes or threatened with a gun or knife? - Did y'all live with anyone who was a trouble drinker or alcoholic, or who used street drugs?
- Was a household member depressed or mentally ill, or did a household member attempt suicide?
- Did a household member go to prison?

What'southward Missing?
- Stressors exterior the household (e.g., violence, poverty, racism, other forms of discrimination, isolation, chaotic environment, lack of services)
- Protective factors (eastward.g., supportive relationships, community services, skill-edifice opportunities)
- Individual differences (i.e., non all children who experience multiple ACEs volition have poor outcomes and not all children who feel no ACEs will avoid poor outcomes—a loftier ACEs score is simply an indicator of greater run a risk)
