JEFF ROSENHEIM WINS 2022 AIPAD AWARD, MET CURATOR TO RECEIVE AWARD IN MAY DURING THE PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW PRESENTED By AIPAD IN NEW YORK
The Clan of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) announced today that Jeff L. Rosenheim, Joyce F. Menschel Curator in Charge of the Department of Photographs at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is the recipient of the annual AIPAD Honor.
The AIPAD Honor recognizes and celebrates visionaries who have spent their lives at the forefront of the field of photography. The Accolade will exist presented during the VIP Preview of The Photography Show presented by AIPAD on Thursday, May 19, 2022. The show runs from May 19 through 22, at a new location at Center415 on Fifth Avenue at 38th Street in New York.

ABOUT THE AIPAD Laurels
The AIPAD Award was established in 2017 to admit those who have significantly inverse the photography landscape. Previous AIPAD Honor winners are Sarah Greenough, Senior Curator and Caput of the Section of Photographs at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., in 2019: Keith F. Davis, formerly Senior Curator of Photography at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, Mo., in 2018; and Anne Wilkes Tucker of The Museum of Fine Arts Houston and Sandra Phillips, Curator Emerita of Photography at the San Francisco Museum of Mod Art, in 2017.

Jeff L. Rosenheim joined The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1988 and has been the Joyce F. Menschel Curator in Charge of the Section of Photographs since 2012. He is the steward of the Walker Evans Archive which The Met acquired in 1994, and the author of numerous books and essays on Evans. Rosenheim is besides the custodian of the Diane Arbus Archive, acquired by The Met in 2007. Equally of December 2021, he is now the caretaker of the James Van Der Zee Annal, a landmark collaboration between The Studio Museum in Harlem and The Met. Rosenheim has lectured extensively in the U.Southward., Western Europe, and South America and curated shows featuring a wide range of artists including Arbus, Evans, Thomas Eakins, William Eggleston, Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander, Helen Levitt, Irving Penn, and Carleton Watkins.
Now in his 34th year at The Met, Rosenheim has overseen the acquisition by purchase and gift of thousands of photographs and curated traveling exhibitions including Photography and the American Civil War (2013); diane arbus: in the get-go (2016); and Irving Penn: Centennial (2017). His recent exhibitions include: African American Portraits: Photographs from the 1940s and 1950s (2018); William Eggleston: Los Alamos (2018); Photography's Last Century: The Ann Tenenbaum and Thomas H. Lee Collection(2020); and Cruel Radiance: Photography, 1940s-1960s (2022). Rosenheim'southward upcoming exhibition, Bernd & Hilla Becher, opens in July 2022 and volition be the starting time retrospective of the artists ever organized in the United states of america. Future projects include a large, traveling exhibition of rare American photographs from the 1840s-1910s from the renowned private collection of Drew Knowlton and William 50. Schaeffer, acquired in 2020 by gift of Jennifer and Philip Maritz in commemoration of The Met's 150th anniversary.

The 41st edition of The Photography Show presented by AIPAD volition be held May 19-22, 2022, with a VIP Preview on May 19, at a new location at Center415 located on Fifth Avenue between 37th and 38th streets in New York City. The Photography Testify is the longest running exhibition dedicated to the photographic medium. The 2022 Show will characteristic 49 leading fine art galleries – all of whom are members of AIPAD – from nine countries and 23 cities from beyond the U.S. and around the world, including Europe, Asia, Canada, and Due south America.
